Sculpture Saviesa

Work of the brothers Miquel and Llucià Oslé, inseparable sculptors who often worked four-handed, making it difficult to distinguish each one’s contribution. In 1928, they were commissioned to create two sculptures for Plaça de Catalunya: El Treball (Work), signed by Llucià, and La Saviesa (Wisdom), signed by Miquel. Despite this distinction, their style is indistinguishable. The allegory of Wisdom depicts the goddess Minerva holding the reins of a rearing horse, ready to crush a serpent symbolizing ignorance. Executed in the noucentista style typical of the period (1911–1929), it reflects the importance given to harmony, balance, and classical values in Barcelona’s public art.
