Sculpture Pastor de l’Àliga

Created in 1928 by Pau Gargallo, this bronze sculpture depicts a shepherd protecting his lamb from a threatening eagle, which he repels with a movement of his arm. Although Gargallo is known for his avant-garde approach, here he had to conform to a more classical aesthetic imposed by the municipal commission. The work thus reflects the balance between modernity and noucentista classicism, characteristic of the artist’s career.
