Relleu de l'Anunciació

Visible in the wall of number 9 Carrer Capellans, this Baroque relief comes from the priory of Santa Maria de Natzaret, a Barcelona dependency of Poblet monastery that once stood on the Rambla. The monastery's arms — the initials PO and the four Catalan bars — are carved into the lower right corner. The piece is generally dated to the late 17th or early 18th century. In the same building, columns also retrieved from the priory — salvaged when public washhouses were built on the site — remain visible in the café on the ground floor.
