Photomosaic «El món neix en cada besada»

Placed in 2014 against a wall on Plaça Isidre Nonell, this photomosaic mural is the creation of photographer and visual artist Joan Fontcuberta. Planned as a temporary installation, it became permanent. The work is made up of nearly four thousand ceramic tiles — produced by Toni Cumella — each carrying a printed photograph; seen together from a distance, they resolve into the image of two lips kissing. The photographs were gathered by the newspaper El Periódico from readers invited to submit personal images evoking moments of freedom. The mural formed part of the commemorations for the tricentenary of 11 September 1714.
