The Palau del Baró de Quadras, located at 373 Avinguda Diagonal, is a major work of Catalan Modernisme designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch between 1902 and 1906, commissioned by Baron Manuel de Quadras i Feliu. It is a renovation of an older house that originally faced Carrer Rosselló. The building features two contrasting façades: the Diagonal façade, spectacular and richly carved in a Neo-Plateresque style, adorned with heraldic shields, medieval busts, flowers, and garlands — a masterful work by sculptors Eusebi Arnau and Alfons Juyol. Inside, the design blends styles: a Neo-Gothic staircase, a Neo-Arab hall, and eclectic decorative elements. The rear façade, facing Carrer Rosselló, adopts a very different look, with a large gallery decorated with sgraffiti inspired by the Viennese Secession movement. Classified as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN), the building has served several purposes over time: it was once the Museum of Music, later Casa Àsia, and today houses the Institut Ramon Llull, dedicated to promoting Catalan culture.
