Pink Barcino Sculpture

Pink Barcino is a contemporary sculpture by Barcelona-born artist Lluís Lleó (1961), located in the Plaça del Cinc d’Oros, at the junction of Passeig de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal, opposite the Palau Robert. Carved in stone, it stands about 3 meters high and weighs around 8 tons. The work is inspired by Ildefons Cerdà’s urban plan: the grey shapes recall the chamfered blocks characteristic of the Eixample, while the fuchsia pink represents the roadways and pays tribute to the historic Saló Rosa (1932), later known as the Bulevard Rosa, now disappeared.
