Plage de la Concurrence is the closest beach to the historic centre of La Rochelle, nestled between the Lanterne Tower and Parc Charruyer. This small crescent of fine sand, awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label, offers a stunning view of the Old Port entrance and the offshore islands. Its name recalls the sea-bathing establishments that made the area famous from the late 18th century. Lined by the elegant seaside villas along the Allées du Mail, the beach has a lifeguard station during the summer season.
