Le Globe de la francophonie

Located at the entrance to La Rochelle’s Old Port, the Globe of the Francophonie is a bronze sculpture created by Bruce Krebs and inaugurated in 2000. The artwork depicts villages representing French-speaking countries, symbolizing the cultural and linguistic ties that unite these nations. Erected in honor of Michel Crépeau, former mayor of La Rochelle and passionate advocate of the French language, the monument celebrates the diversity and richness of the French-speaking world.
