Statue of Jaume Salvador i Pedrol

The statue of Jaume Salvador i Pedrol (1649-1740), inaugurated in 1884 in front of the Geology Museum in Ciutadella Park, is a work by Eduard B. Alentorn. Made of marble and stone, it depicts the Barcelona-born botanist and pharmacist seated, holding a branch and a notebook, surrounded by plants that evoke his scientific work. Coming from a family of scientists and elected as a city councillor in 1697, Jaume Salvador is considered one of the most prominent Catalan scientific figures of his time. The work follows a realistic style, attentive to detail.
