Sculptures of the Banesto Building

Added in 1957 by Frederic Marès Deulovol, these two sculptures adorn the façade of the Banesto building, constructed in 1941 on the site of the former Hotel Colón. Set in niches flanking the main entrance, they depict two semi-nude female figures of classical inspiration: one holding a sphere with a fish beside her, likely an allegory of maritime trade; the other carrying a bouquet of flowers with vines and grapes at her feet, symbolizing agricultural labor.
