Sculpture Tarragona

Created in 1928 by Jaume Otero Camps, this bronze sculpture is part of the series of four provincial allegories made for the 1929 International Exhibition. It represents Tarragona through a seated man surrounded by three nearly nude young women with elegant, sensual forms. The symbolic elements —a basket of fruit, a fish, and a net— allude to both agriculture and fishing, expressed in a noucentista style imbued with Mediterranean spirit.
