Monument in Homage to the 1888 Universal Exposition

The monument in homage to the Universal Exposition of 1888, inaugurated on April 23, 1991 in the Parc de la Ciutadella, is a work by Antoni Clavé. Created from repurposed industrial pieces (cogwheels, iron bars, machinery elements), it combines stainless steel, aluminum, and paint to form a monumental collage. At its center, a large 4.5-meter aluminum relief, originally intended to be mobile, evokes the spirit of modernity embodied by the Exposition. With its industrial and contemporary aesthetic, the work pays tribute to the centenary of this landmark event for Barcelona.
