The Casa Pericas, built in 1919 by architect Josep M. Pericas Morros for himself and his family, stands at the corner of Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer de Còrsega. It is one of the finest examples of Catalan Noucentisme, an architectural style that followed Modernisme, emphasizing balance, clarity, and tradition. Painted in light yellow tones, the building features three façades with cylindrical bay windows, a large natural stone base, and six floors. Its decoration blends various influences: a baroque pediment, an open gallery reminiscent of Catalan farmhouses, and classical sgraffiti by Josep Campañà, depicting cherubs, mythological figures, and floral motifs. On the Diagonal façade, one can see massive columns, a Romanesque-inspired entrance, and inside, semi-circular arches, marble and wrought-iron columns, and furniture designed by Pericas himself. The overall composition combines geometric forms, stylized ornamentation, and elegant harmony. A remarkable detail: the peacock carved on the entrance door is said to have been inspired by a funerary motif Pericas observed at the Monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres, which he later reproduced in the family pantheon in Vic.
