Bust of Teodor Llorente

The bust of Teodor Llorente (1836-1911), Valencian poet, journalist, and politician, was inaugurated in 1912 in the Ciutadella Park. Created by Eusebi Arnau and Alexandre Soler i March, the marble and stone work is notable for its realism, down to the details of the glasses resting on his jacket. Erected on the occasion of the Jocs Florals, the monument pays tribute to one of the leading figures of the Renaixença and founder of the Valencian society Lo Rat Penat. It also symbolizes the cultural and literary ties between Valencia and Catalonia.
