Phare du Bout du Monde

Located off the Pointe des Minimes, the End of the World Lighthouse is one of La Rochelle’s most unique landmarks. This replica of the famous Patagonian lighthouse, originally built in 1884 near Cape Horn and made famous by Jules Verne, was inaugurated in 2000. Standing on stilts several hundred meters from the shore, this wooden octagonal lighthouse watches over the harbour entrance and reflects great maritime adventures. Visible from the coast or accessible at low tide, it symbolizes the connection between La Rochelle and the world’s most remote seas.
