Discrete yet surprising, the experimental tramway line in Les Minimes reflects an ambitious early-2000s project to bring tram transport back to La Rochelle. Built in the university district, this test track of about 1.5 km was developed with Alstom to trial new technologies and explore the possibility of a future urban network. Despite successful tests, the project was eventually abandoned due to high costs. Today, a few remaining rails can still be seen, serving as a reminder of this modern attempt to revive a transport system that once existed in the city in the early 20th century.
