The Four Bars

Las Cuatro Barras, inaugurated in 2009 at Rosa dels Vents Square, is a monumental sculpture by architect Ricardo Bofill. Inspired by the Catalan senyera, it pays tribute to the four red stripes of Catalonia’s flag. The artwork consists of four 6-meter-high white marble columns, each with a subtle twist that creates a sense of movement, recalling Gaudí’s columns in the Sagrada Família. Facing the sea and next to the W Barcelona Hotel, the sculpture has become a symbol of Catalan identity and contemporary art in the city.
