Sculpture Hèrcules

Created in 1928 by Antoni Parera i Saurina, this bronze sculpture draws direct inspiration from classical art and from Michelangelo, whom the artist admired during his stay in Rome. It depicts a powerful, muscular Hercules, the legendary figure linked to the mythical foundation of Barcelona, furiously hurling a rock. The scene recalls the episode in which the hero transforms his servant Lichas into stone before casting him into the sea.
