Sculpture Emporion

Created in 1928 by Frederic Marès Deulovol, this bronze sculpture pays tribute to Empúries (Emporion), a symbol of Greco-Roman Catalonia. It depicts a woman dressed in an almost transparent tunic, revealing solid and harmonious forms, holding a jar with her left arm. Through its contrapposto, soft modeling, and serene expression, the work fully embodies the noucentista idealism and Mediterranean spirit central to Marès’s art.
