Arc de Sant Vicenc — The Secret Passage to Montcada

Few visitors notice this opening in the wall of a 17th-century building, and even fewer venture through it. Yet the Arc de Sant Vicenc is a genuine through-passage: a carpanell arch with gentle elongated curves characteristic of the 16th-17th centuries rests on two ashlar jambs with chamfers. The interior vault reveals an iron-framed structure with brick coffers, evidence of a later refurbishment. The alleyway opens at its far end onto another arcade piercing an 18th-century house — and leads directly to carrer Montcada, one of Barcelona's most beautiful medieval streets. This double chain of arches forms a centuries-old pedestrian shortcut, listed as a local heritage site.
